なぜ「主張と根拠」をつかめないのか？

単語はわかるのに、筆者が何を言いたいのかが曖昧なまま読み進めてしまう…。その最大の原因は、文と文の役割（主張・理由・例・結論）を区別していないことです。
意見文（opinion passage）では、まず筆者の主張を特定し、それを支える根拠を回収することが最重要になります。

主張（opinion）と根拠（reason）とは？

主張（opinion）

筆者が最も伝えたい中心的な意見。
I think / In my opinion / should / we need to などで明示されやすい。
段落冒頭（トピックセンテンス）や結論文で示されることが多い。

根拠（reason）

主張を支える理由・証拠（facts, data, examples, experiences）。
because / one reason is / this is because / due to / since などで導かれやすい。
複数並ぶ場合は番号付けされることもある（first, second）。

例文で「主張→根拠→結論」を確認しよう

Some people think that smartphones should not be used in class.
However, I think students should be allowed to use them for studying.
One reason is that students can quickly look up words or information.
Another reason is that many schools use online materials these days.
In my opinion, smartphones can be useful tools if students use them correctly.

「主張」と「根拠」を見抜くマーカーの読み方

① 主張のサイン（Opinion Markers）

I think / I believe / In my opinion / It is important that … / should
段落冒頭のトピックセンテンスや段落末の結論文に注意。

② 根拠のサイン（Reason Markers）

because / one reason is that / another reason is / this is because / since / due to
列挙表現：first, second, finally / To begin with, moreover, besides

③ 例・証拠のサイン（Evidence/Example）

for example / for instance / such as / for one thing
前の主張・理由を具体化する働き。例だけ切り取って読まない。

よくある誤読パターンと修正

誤読パターン	ありがちな読み方	正しい考え方
理由を主張だと思い込む	“One reason is …” を筆者の主張と誤解	「主張を支える根拠」として読む（主張は別にある）
他人の意見＝筆者の意見と混同	“Some people think …” をそのまま筆者意見と解釈	逆接・主張マーカー（I think / however）に注目
例だけで結論づける	for example の具体例を本文の中心だと勘違い	例は主張・理由の補強であり、中心ではない
結論を読み飛ばす	最後の再主張（in my opinion …）を見落とす	結論文で筆者の立場を再確認する習慣をつける

主張と根拠を見抜く3ステップ

主張を探す： I think / In my opinion / should を最優先でチェック。
根拠を回収： because / one reason is / this is because などの「理由サイン」を拾う。
結論で再確認： 段落末の再主張や評価表現で筆者の立場を固める。
